Through AIPMNH, the Governments of Australia and Indonesia work together to help implement Indonesia's Making Pregnancy Safer (MPS) Strategy and improve public administration in the health sector. NTT Province's Revolusi KIA Initiative, or Mother and Child Health Revolution, mirrors the objectives of the MPS.
The Partnership builds on the Government of Indonesia's (GoI) ongoing reform and decentralization efforts. It aims to address system constraints, improve governance, and introduce a focus on performance through appropriate additional resources.
AIPMNH provides motivation and direction for partners to achieve their targets and receive additional budget support. The Partnership provides resources by funding activities and providing technical advice in maternal and neonatal health (MNH).
When performance targets are reached, the Partnership provides additional funding to complement the resources provided by the GoI and other donors.
Program resources are used to address priority interventions to encourage increased local government allocation to health but not to displace government budgets. The Partnership works with and through the GoI's planning, budgeting cycles and timelines.
